Upscale all-you-can-eat wagyu Japanese-style hot pot restaurant with memberships debuts in Asiatown

Wagyu, whether it’s the prized Japanese breeds or the marbled cuts of beef from cows bred in Australia and the U.S., can be found at Houston steakhousessushi counters and even Italian restaurants.

The newly opened Mikiya Wagyu Shabu House, 9896 Bellaire in Asiatown, however, is the only all-you-can-eat Japanese-style hot pot restaurant in town primarily focused on wagyu and a high-end dining experience — including memberships.

“This restaurant is a different level of shabu,” said David Zhao, founding partner of Chubby Group, which operates the restaurant. “Texans who love steak will have some of the best cuts here.”

For beef lovers, that means wagyu options such as thin slices for dipping into cauldrons of bubbling broth, nigiri, bone marrow and tartare.
